SUMMARY:Flower Pounding and Mandala Design Workshop
DESCRIPTION:We are hosting our second workshop of the summer: Flower Pounding and Mandala Design on August 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In this workshop attendees will discover the ancient art of flower pounding and create beautiful\, natural fabric dyes while exploring the principles of mandala design. In this hands-on workshop\, you will create a symmetrical design out of flowers\, stems\, and leaves on a canvas tote bag using a hammer. Embrace the unique blend of delicacy and force in our Flower Pounding and Mandala Design workshop. Tote bags and flowers will be provided\, but feel free to bring additional flowers or fabric of your own. Join us for a day of artistic expression and leave with your own hand-dyed mandala masterpiece! \n\nThis workshop will be taught by community artists Shannon and Steph. Shannon and Steph will share about the ancient art of flower pounding and introduce the meaning and design principles of the mandala design. Shannon and Steph will explain the process of choosing flowers and placing them in a radial symmetrical design. The instructors will walk through the process of pre-treating the fabric\, prepping the working surface\, and techniques for placement and pounding the natural materials. Attendees would be supplied with pre-treated canvas tote bags\, flowers\, wax paper\, and hammers. Shannon and Steph will provide handouts that offer a brief history of flower pounding and mandalas\, tips and tricks\, and before and after care.\n\n**Pre-registration is $20 per person and is required by August 10th\, 2024.
