Eager to become a part of the downtown Lancaster arts scene, in September 2013 we relocated our thriving studio and gallery to our current location on North Water Street and rebranded as the Friendship Heart Gallery. This move created an exciting retail opportunity while providing a larger, more functional space for our growing community of artists.
With more than 70 Heart Artists participating at the time, additional room was needed for artists to move freely, organize supplies, and safely store and dry their artwork. It was also at this location that we transitioned from a club-based program to an officially licensed day services program, while continuing to offer club activities two evenings each week.
In November 2025, we expanded once again by purchasing the vacant space next door, formerly occupied by Miesse Candies. This exciting addition allowed us to significantly increase both our studio and gallery space. Heart Artists now have more room, resources, and creative opportunities than ever before. The expanded gallery also enables us to host larger exhibitions featuring Heart Artists, as well as community events that bring people together through art.
One of the most exciting additions is our new Market component. In addition to shopping original artwork created by Heart Artists, visitors can now purchase products from entrepreneurs with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism from across the country. From spices and chocolates to dog treats, skincare products, and more, the Market creates opportunities for talented makers nationwide while offering customers a unique and meaningful shopping experience.
